Contemplation from the Comfort of Bed

I usually do a "Contemplation from..." Blog post when I need to talk and if I have something I feel you guys need to know... So I have been thinking of doing this for a long time but I never thought that my life was interesting enough for me to do it but I am really considering branching out and include maybe a few vlogs to just fill in when I don't do a review. I am doing this contemplation from bed because a) it is comfy and b) it's a relaxing Sunday, so I just wanted to make this proposition. Also, within this new year I am wondering if I make the drastic choices of designing my website professionally. As you know I have always said this was more of a hobby and something to practice, but now I feel like it is so ingrained in how I think and feel that I would feel empty if I didn't do it anymore. So I leave the decision to all of you reading this, do I pursue making the site greater or do I keep it the same? Obviously the changes will not be instantaneous but these are just thoughts that I am wondering and seriously considering. Anyways I love you guys and I will talk to you later.

January Favourites: Winter Lock Down Edition

Hi guys! Today I am doing another favourites post! I just really wanted to share some of the products I have been using and I have been totally in love with! It has been so cold and dry everywhere this winter that I feel everyone just feels trapped so let's cheer it up a bit. Let's begin!

Skin care:
- Origins' Checks and Balances frothing face wash
I really love this face wash because it really works well with my extremely picky combination skin. Lately I have been finding it difficult to find something that works for me so when I picked this up earlier this month I know that it was love at first use.

- Neutrogena's Natural Night Cream
I have used this for the past year or so and I really like it because it moursturizes my really dry cheeks. I find that it works for me and it doesn't really have much smell which is a plus side in a night cream.

- Benefit "they're real! Mascara"
I am one of those people that walks into Sephora and usually leaves with something that was an impulse. In most cases the impulse is a flat out failure, however, this mascara has been a pleasant surprise. I really like the way it makes my lashes look full and a lot longer. When I run out of this small size I will DEFINITELY buy the larger size.

-NYX eyeshadow base skin tone in "esb03"
I like this eyeshadow base because it doesn't cause creases in the eyeshadow and it also makes the pigment of the shadow stay longer. It is also relatively well priced which is a nice touch. Good job NYX!

- Nars Creamy Concealer in "Vanilla"
So now we get to what I am most proud that I bought this month! I absolutely love this concealer. I have watched so many bloggers and beauty gurus on YouTube rave about this product and the amount of coverage it provides. Actually, with the amount of coverage it has in covering up my few blemishes I can actually skip BB cream and go straight to powder which makes my face happy.

-The Fray "Love Don't Die" (click here:
I mentioned this song in the December favourites post, however it is making a much deserved second mention because of the video. I had not seen the video as I had preordered the album and had this one particular song already. However, from watching the video I can safely say that it is my favourite song and video so far this year.

So I think that is it in this months favourites! As always if you have a certain kind of post you would like me to do leave your idea in the comments, or drop me a line on my google+ or my twitter! I love you guys and I will talk to you later!

What faction are you? The Divergent review

Hi guys! As I said in my latest favourites post, I really enjoyed the book "Divergent" by Veronica Roth. I also mentioned that I would do a review of the book so let's do this!
First off, I have been having some weird fascination with the post apocalyptic world. I think this started when I read "Warm Bodies" and I have continued on this theme.
If you don't know "Divergent" occurs in the ruins of Chicago and the people of this new society have pulled together and formed 5 factions. The five factions each have fundamental ideas they aspire towards and the people within the faction must prove there loyalty to that faction, otherwise you become factionless. The story follows a 16 year old girl named Tris as she makes the decision of a life time that can lead her in two ways. One way she can stay with her family but know she does not fit in or she can leave her family and be shunned. Beatrice is from  the faction of selflessness, Abnegation. We learn that she struggles with the rules of Abnegation no matter how much she loves the principals. She has always looked up to the Dauntless, the brave faction, and now that the choosing ceremony which happens every year for 16 year olds, she now how has to make the choice.
I really liked the idea behind this. I found it interesting, because it makes you question what you value and what you as a person would identify with. It questions whether the best decision is always to take the safe choices and not take risks or do take the risk where you could possibly lose everything. I thought that was an interesting thing Roth brought up. I also like how Beatrice is following the trend of strong female protagonists, taking a very much similar role of Katnis Everdeen from the "Hunger Games". I am a huge fan of strong female leads and I am really living this trend of strong independent women. It shows girls that sometimes getting your hands dirty lands  you Prince Charming as well.
I don't want to give a lot of the plot away just in case some of you haven't read it, but the book progresses really well and I think it gets more complex and interesting to the point where you cannot put it down.
I was so enthralled with the book that I went and bought the second one, however that one is questionable for me so far so we will see. Over all I really like the book. My one criticism, one that I have noticed in many novels recently, is that there are a lot of similarities between story lines and characteristics of characters from other novels. Anyways I really enjoyed the novel and I really think you should check it out!

Love you guys! As always if you have any ideas for what I should do next just drop me a line on the Odd and Wondrous Facebook page or on my google+ profile or my twitter which is @kcoolkat24. I will talk to you later! Bye!
Ps. I took a quiz to see what faction I would be in and I would be Dauntless which is surprising I think! What do you think I would be? ;)

Favourites of 2013

Hi guys,
So this past year I took on the strenuous task of trying to expand out into new territory. And instead of falling off the precipice of risk and into a volcano of shame I fell into the warmest and softest bed I have ever come across. Of course I am dancing around the subject by being poetic, but I think you can grasp where this is going. I took a risk when I started writing the favourites, but it was met with open arms which I think was a good risk to take. So here is to another year of risks that I hope make you happy and me as well!
Now that my sappy spiel is out of the way I wanted to sum up the year of 2013 with a little bow by presenting my favourites of the year!

My favourite book that I read this year was probably "Divergent" by Veronica Roth. I think I might do a review so I won't talk to much about it, but I really enjoyed it.
This year I have branched out my food explorations to new levels. I tried chicken feet which I never thought I would. I am not a huge fan because the cartilage gets stuck in your teeth. But I have been OBSESSED with Pho. It is freaking delicious!

This year as far as music has gone it has been really diverse. But my favourite song this year would have to be "Counting Stars" by One Republic. I really love the lyrics and I found that I connected to this song from the first time I heard it.

Beauty product!
My favourite beauty product would definitely be my new make up brushes that I received for Christmas. I just love them!
So guys this has been my year of  favourites and I hope you enjoyed!

P.s. This was supposed to be posted last week but the application I use crashed to my utter disgust. I thought it was lost forever but it appears to be safe enough!
I am also going to post a post tomorrow but it is getting a bit late so I will tide you over with this! Good night!

Happy New Year!!!!

Hi everyone and welcome to the year 2014!!! I really wanted to blog today as this is my first down time day in a while.
I hope everyone had a great New Year's Eve and that there were not too many shenanigans. For this post I really wanted to blog about what I hope and expect for this coming year out of both my personal life and the blog!

So you guys don't know this but 2014 is going to be really exciting for me! First I will be turning 18 which here in Manitoba means I can legally drink. The picture below is a virgin margarita. I will also be graduating from HighSchool, which is a huge milestone. In around that same time I am going on a school trip to London, Paris, Rome and Florence, which coincidentally falls on the week of my birthday, which means in, I believe Paris, I will be 18. And in the fall I am going to university pursue my dream of being an author! This year will be exciting and I hope you will follow me on this journey as I continue  to find myself. And I hope that one day I could meet some of you! As far as the Odd and Wondrous goes I am still going to blog because finally I have some interesting things I want to share about me. In the past I have held off telling you intimate details because a) I was underage and b) my life doesn't actually have that much adventure... But hopefully that will change.
So let's ring in the new year and make the most of what 2014 has to offer!
